The Pompidou center has organized a retrospective of the German artist Hito Steyerl (Munich, 1966) in collaboration with K21 Dusseldorf. Named “the most influential person in the art world,” Steyeri experiments with and uses technology to create video installations on sensitive themes such as the ever increasing impact of the multi nationals on social spheres and the resulting transformation over time of government institutions. The works How not to be seen of 2013 and Factory of the Sun of 2015 represent the world as a data base system in the hands of the highest bidder. Steyeri reflects on the power of technology and the media and their capacity to create a parallel world. Until 7th June. Curated by Doris Krystof.
