The Tate St Ives hosts the large retrospective “Beatriz Milhazes: Maresias”, which traces, through paintings of intense tones, the evolution of the Brazilian artist in the last four decades. The title of the exhibition evokes the sea breeze of the native Rio de Janeiro, source of inspiration from which begins a deep investigation on the color and the centrality of the naturalistic theme. The exhibition explores, through paintings, collages and prints, the development of a creative process that is expressed through freedom in the use of chromatic elements and geometries, influenced over the years by European modernism and baroque.
Curated by Anne Barlow and Giles Jackson. Until September 29th.
